Al & Jean Veys Memorial Golf Tournament on Facebook |
The Al & Jean Veys Memorial Golf Tournament benefits the Visiting Nurse Association and St. Bernadette School. Golfers participate in an 18-hole, 4-person scramble featuring flight prizes awarded for 1st and 2nd place. The tournament also includes flag prizes, door prizes, and a T-bone steak lunch with all the trimmings after the tournament at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 43rd and Washington Street. Participants need not be skilled golfers-just be willing to have a great time. The day begins with registration at 7:30 a.m. and a shotgun start at 8:00 am. The tournament will be played at Eagle Hills Golf Course in Papillion. As you may know, Al and Jean Veys did so much for their community and belonged to many social and civic organizations. Al’s 20 plus years in city government and involvement in many fundraising activities placed him in the hearts of many. Jeans commitment to the children of the community was known throughout the state. In 2001 the Omaha Retail Meat Dealers Association created this memorial golf tournament to pay tribute to these two extraordinary people as well as raise money for the two causes that were close to them. The money raised in these annual events benefits many in our community. Take time to look over the site and you will see this event truly is one of Omaha’s premiere golf tournaments. |
